What is Nibbles?
Nibbles is a grassroots fretwork to archive and share images of printed text you encounter in the wild — signs, book passages, graffiti, stickers, recipes, whatever catches your eye. Upload a photo of your found text, or nibble, to the global feed with relevant tags. People can relish your nibble, or disperse it for others to find. You don't have to sign up to view and relish nibbles. You do have to sign up to upload a nibble.
When you re-share or disperse a nibble — cloning it to your personal feed, re-tagging it, scheduling it for future release — the image quality degrades slightly. And with each degree of separation from the original nibbler, it degrades further. Like lived experience spoken into gossip. Like eye flashing brain what it sees in the world. Like rocks becoming soil the more roots that push through.
How to nibble
- » Upload images of printed or handwritten text on material objects
- » Tag your nibbles so other nibblers (and you) can search for them later
- » Keep captions short — let the found text speak or confound
- » Avoid memes, social media posts
- » Avoid screenshots — except conventionally printed media like books or periodicals
- » You can flag a nibble as NOT a nibble for moderators to review
We love printed media at Nibbles. We love low context at Nibbles. The empire is fragmenting. The soil can be fertile. Spread the word. Seed a revolution.
